Carmelo Anthony 3rd Player to Score 10,000 Points with 2 Teams
New York Knicks star Carmelo Anthony scored 27 points in Sunday's 120-112 loss to the Brooklyn Nets, becoming just the third player in league history to record 10,000-plus points with two different teams, per NBA History.
Anthony joins Hall of Famers Elvin Hayes and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar as the only three players to accomplish the feat. Hayes scored 15,551 points with the Washington Bullets and 11,762 with the Houston Rockets and Abdul-Jabbar tallied 14,411 with the Milwaukee Bucks and 24,176 with the Los Angeles Lakers. Carmelo finished his stint with the Denver Nuggets having notched 13,970 points and Sunday's effort boosted him to 10,022 points since joining the Knicks.

While his scoring has slowed slightly since he was shipped to the Big Apple in 2010-11, Anthony hasn't averaged fewer than 20.8 points per game in a season throughout his 13-year career. His best scoring campaign came in 2013-14 with the Knicks, amassing 28.7 points per contest. Despite turning 32 in May, he's still averaged 23 points through 65 games in his 14th professional season.
Carmelo was the focus of much of New York's trade talks prior to the deadline but ultimately stuck around due—in part—to his no-trade clause. Brandon Jennings ended up being the only roster casualty after the club waived him.
Having lost five of their last six games, the Knicks appear bound for the lottery in 2017. They currently possess the fourth-worst record in the Eastern Conference and sit in a tie with the Sacramento Kings for the sixth-worst record overall. Depending on how the rest of the season shakes out, the team could position itself for a high draft pick and the addition of another piece to a puzzle requiring a few more to compete.
