Stephen Curry Passes Father Dell on NBA's All-Time Scoring List

Adam WellsMar 10, 2017

Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry has bragging rights on Dell Curry after passing his father's 12,670 career points on the NBA's all-time scoring list.

Curry moved into 220th place with this three-pointer in the third quarter of Friday's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves at Target Center:

Curry has been assaulting the NBA record books over the past two seasons. Last year, he became the first unanimous NBA MVP after leading the Warriors to a 73-9 record in the 2015-16 regular season.

During the campaign, Curry became the first player in NBA history to make at least 300 and 400 three-pointers in a single season. He also set a new league benchmark last November by hitting 13 three-pointers in a game against the New Orleans Pelicans

While Dell Curry didn't have the career his son is enjoying, he was a terrific NBA player for 16 seasons. The family patriarch apparently gave the younger Curry his shooting touch, as Dell retired from the league after the 2001-02 season with a career 40.2 three-point percentage.

Dell and Stephen are one of only two father-son duos to score at least 10,000 points in NBA history. The other is Jalen Rose and Jimmy Walker, per John Smallwood of the Philadelphia Inquirer.

The elder Curry also remains the Charlotte Hornets' all-time leader in scoring (9,839 points).
