Big Ten Holds 'Baby Race' at Halftime of Ohio State vs. Rutgers Tournament Game

Andrew GouldMar 9, 2017

Purdue can add another Big Ten title to its mantle after its toddler representative won a "baby race" Wednesday night.

At halftime of Rutgers' 66-57 first-round men's basketball tournament victory over Ohio State in Washington, D.C., the Verizon Center held a contest among infants. Because they're babies, they have not developed the cognitive abilities to realize their parents wanted them to crawl for competitive sport.

Tim and Claire Daul spoke to BTN.com's Alex Roux on behalf of their victorious son, Theodore.

"We thought he might get a bit shy, but he surprised us," Claire said. "Especially because he clapped when he won. He's not shy."

Perhaps the triumph will earn him a scholarship down the line.
