Myles Garrett Runs 4.6-Second 40-Yard Dash at 2017 NFL Combine

Adam WellsMar 5, 2017

Texas A&M defensive end Myles Garrett is doing his best to become the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL draft. On Sunday, he ran a 4.64-second 40-yard dash at the 2017 NFL Scouting Combine.

Chase Goodbread of NFL.com reported Garrett's time, which he clocked on his first attempt. The NFL's Twitter account provided a video that compared Garrett's run to those of Jadeveon Clowney and Khalil Mack:

Just in case there was any doubt about Garrett's explosiveness, the NFL also tweeted how he did in the vertical jump:

Garrett entered the combine as the top overall prospect on virtually every draft board, including B/R NFL draft analyst Matt Miller's.

After Garrett's 40, NFL.com's Gil Brandt noted one scout in attendance said "we can all go home now."

NFL.com draft analyst Bucky Brooks said this about Garrett after the Aggies standout's stunning display of speed:

Garrett measured 6'5" and weighed in at 270 pounds before the combine workout, per NFL.com. In three collegiate seasons, Garrett recorded 48.5 tackles for loss and 32.5 sacks.

The Cleveland Browns, who own the No. 1 pick, will have to address their quarterback situation at some point. But after a 1-15 season and with a roster bereft of talent, they need to add the best player available.

Based on Sunday's results in Indianapolis, Garrett has separated himself from the rest of the pack.
