NFL Picks Week 10: Game-by-Game Advice for Current Vegas Spreads

Scott PolacekNov 8, 2016

Parity can be the bane of the gambler, and the NFL has it in spades this season.

Going into Monday night's game between the Seattle Seahawks and Buffalo Bills, 22 of the 32 teams in the league had three, four or five wins on the 2016 campaign. That means there is truly little separating the majority of the teams, and the fact eight of the 11 games on Sunday were decided by single digits is testament to just that.

Bettors are facing a higher level of difficulty this year (unless they want to bet straight up against the 0-9 Cleveland Browns), but that won't stop them from taking to Las Vegas for Week 10.

Upsets to Target

Green Bay Packers at Tennessee Titans

The Green Bay Packers are one-point favorites against the Tennessee Titans, but the home underdog will come through in Week 10.

The Titans are 4-5 and still in contention in the AFC South, but this pick is more about the mess that is the Packers. They have lost three of their last four games and six of their last 10 regular-season contests going back to the 2015 campaign. What's more, they fell behind 31-13 on Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts before closing the final gap to 31-26.

That was at home against an AFC South team that was a mere 3-5 entering the contest.

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers pointed to a lack of energy from his team, per Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com:

"

I don't understand it. I mean, this is what we get paid to do, is to bring it every week, and I hope the guys would say I bring it every week. I mean, I love this game and I bring energy. I'm not a rah-rah guy, but I'm a focused, enthusiastic player, and I don't know what the lack of juice was. You kind of felt it over the entire sideline. We didn't have the same kind of enthusiasm and encouragement that we had the previous two weeks. So we've got to look deep in the mirror there, because that's just not acceptable.

"

The Packers are now looking up at the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions in the NFC North with a middling rushing attack that is playing without injured Eddie Lacy. The defense is 18th in the league in points allowed per game after Sunday's action and will struggle against a Titans offense that has averaged 31 points per game in the last five outings.

Running back DeMarco Murray and quarterback Marcus Mariota will put up plenty of points against Green Bay, and the Titans defense will follow Indianapolis' formula and hold off a late charge from Rodgers.

Prediction: Titans 34, Packers 31

Dallas Cowboys at Pittsburgh Steelers

The 4-4 Pittsburgh Steelers are three-point favorites at home for their Week 10 game against the 7-1 Dallas Cowboys, but bettors should trust the records over the line here and back Dallas.

Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger returned for Sunday's game against the Baltimore Ravens, but it didn't do the Steelers much good. They lost 21-14, and Roethlisberger threw an interception and fumbled twice (although he didn't lose the fumbles).

Running back Le'Veon Bell never got any traction with 32 rushing yards on 14 carries, and Pittsburgh lost its third game in a row. It also didn't have a missing Roethlisberger as an excuse this time around.

The Cowboys are trending in the exact opposite direction with seven straight wins after a season-opening loss to the New York Giants. An injured quarterback has not hampered the NFC East leaders, as rookie Dak Prescott has filled in admirably for Tony Romo. The Mississippi State product has just two interceptions to 12 passing touchdowns this year.

He is not the only rookie sparking the Dallas offense.

Running back Ezekiel Elliott leads the NFL with 891 rushing yards behind an offensive line that Football Outsiders ranked as the fourth-best run-blocking unit in the league through Week 8.

Bleacher Report's Matt Miller thinks Dallas is right there with the New England Patriots in the discussion for the best team in the league:

That backfield pair, along with tight end Jason Witten and wide receiver Dez Bryant, will cause all types of problems for a Steelers defense that was an abysmal 24th in the league in yards allowed per game after Sunday's action.

Prediction: Cowboys 30, Steelers 21
