Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
"I'm at total peace. Like I said, go out and you're 33 years old and you're on injured reserve last year—that's going to scare a lot of teams away. I understand how the business works, and I'm fine with that," Rolle said.
Rolle played for the Arizona Cardinals, New York Giants and Chicago Bears across an 11-season career. He spent his first and only season with the Bears in 2015, recording 35 tackles in seven games before suffering a sprained MCL that put him on injured reserve.
After Chicago drafted two safeties and let him go, Rolle ripped the franchise for its outdated playing surface, per Dan Wiederer of the Chicago Tribune:
"Yeah, I think the surface had a whole lot to do with it. You know, it happens, man. ... The facilities are good in Chicago. The fields are just not as good.
I don't know the reason behind it. I'm a down south guy. I don't know the soil level or how the maintenance and the upkeep works in the Chicago area. But, yeah, it's really hard to maintain and be stable under those conditions. I'm sure that they'll try to work and fix it.
I always knew that Soldier Field was bad. I just never knew that the (practice) facilities were just as bad.
"
He spent the previous five seasons with the Giants, starting 80 straight games while playing the best football of his career. He made two of his three Pro Bowls and both All-Pro teams in New York. In 2013, Rolle set career highs with 98 tackles and six interceptions while also adding two sacks in his best all-around campaign.
Rolle was also part of the Giants' Super Bowl XLVI championship team.
"New York is where my heart is, man," he said on SiriusXM's NFL Radio in May (via Tom Rock of Newsday). "I think everyone knows that. I've never hidden it. New York is where the heart is. New York is where I feel comfortable."
Rolle finishes his career with 834 tackles and 26 interceptions. Selected eighth in the 2005 NFL draft after a storied career at Miami, Rolle's career wound up being a success story all things considered.
