WWE Hell in a Cell 2016 Matches: Final Picks, Predictions for Entire Match Card

Aaron BowerOct 30, 2016

WWE makes history on Sunday night when it puts three of its biggest rivalries inside Hell in a Cell to settle them once and for all.

Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks make history by becoming the first two women to compete inside the structure, a deserved accolade given how much they have managed to engage with WWE fans.

Meanwhile, Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins will wage war inside the cell to decide the Universal Championship, and Roman Reigns and Rusev also look to hold the United States Championship aloft by the end of Sunday night.

But away from the cell matches, the show as a whole has a captivating feel about it.

Here's a run through of all of the matches on the main show, as well as some predictions about who could win the big showdowns.

Lower Card Matches

1 of 5

Bayley vs. Dana Brooke

The attention in the women's division is firmly on Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair this Sunday, which makes the match between Bayley and Dana Brook fade into the background somewhat.

But this is an important contest for both women. Bayley has impressed since coming up to the main roster, but her run has stalled somewhat, and Dana Brooke is forging a decent start to life away from Charlotte.

This appears to be a holding feud for both women, in fairness. Brooke and Charlotte will perhaps work a rivalry at some point, while Bayley surely is destined for the top end of the division on Raw.

So who needs the win more at Hell in a Cell? Arguably Bayley. Another defeat here would be fairly damaging, so it would make sense to see her go over.

Prediction: Bayley

Enzo and Cass vs. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson

This could easily be a tag title feud of the future if both teams are booked correctly, but for now, Enzo and Cass and Gallows and Anderson are fixed in the lower end of the card.

To add significant depth to the tag division, WWE would be wise to have this rivalry last a good few months. Keeping two hugely popular teams working with each other benefits them both greatly in the long run.

But who needs the win more this Sunday? It seems like Enzo and Cass would be able to survive a loss with the momentum they have, and Gallows and Anderson have really struggled to make an impact in the last few months.

Prediction: Gallows and Anderson

The New Day vs. Cesaro and Sheamus

The most unlikely tag team in WWE takes on The New Day on Sunday looking to end their ever-increasing run at the top of the division.

Can Cesaro and Sheamus team up well enough to be able to take down The New Day and repeat their victory on Raw this past Monday?

It's entirely possible, but WWE taking the belts off The New Day now and handing them to a team who have been together for a matter of weeks would make little sense.

A team bigger than Cesaro and Sheamus will get the honor of ending The New Day's run as tag champions, so it seems a fairly safe bet that they will retain on Sunday.

Prediction: The New Day

T.J. Perkins vs. Brian Kendrick

2 of 5

WWE's cruiserweight division has been hampered by a real lack of storytelling in the opening few months of its existence.

That has been arguably the biggest downfall of the division thus far, with the in-ring action certainly standing up to the mark. But lately, Brian Kendrick's quest for one more shot at the top of WWE has begun to shed more light on the characters in the division, as well as their ability.

Kendrick is growing increasingly desperate for one more chance, consciously aware that defeat this Sunday to T.J. Perkins could be the end for him in WWE.

And it's that creative storytelling which makes Kendrick a likely winner on Sunday. WWE could keep Kendrick's desperation alive beyond Hell in a Cell, making him the renegade, unhinged heel who takes down anyone in his way to get another shot at the Cruiserweight Championship.

But with Perkins' reign not doing much for the division at the moment, this could be the ideal opportunity to crown a new champion and reward Kendrick.

Prediction: Brian Kendrick

Roman Reigns vs. Rusev

3 of 5

So far, Roman Reigns vs. Rusev has proven to be one of the most energetic and enthusiastic rivalries of the year so far.

Both guys have really delivered, and not even the defeat which saw Rusev surrender the United States Championship has stunted his momentum.

On Sunday, both men meet inside Hell in a Cell looking to strike a final, telling blow inside WWE's most demonic structure.

So who needs this victory more? All the signs point to Rusev, but it is hard to imagine Reigns will drop the title clean at such an important pay-per-view.

Expect Reigns to emerge through a bloody, brutal battle with his title just about intact.

Prediction: Roman Reigns

Sasha Banks vs. Charlotte Flair

4 of 5

History will be made on Sunday inside Hell in a Cell when two female competitors wrestle inside the structure for the first time.

Hopes are tentatively high that Sasha Banks and Charlotte Flair will live up to the expectations placed on their shoulders. Don't expect them to disappoint.

The Raw Women's Championship will get a title match it truly deserves on Sunday, and this is a contest that, with the historical significance being brought into play, deserves to be the show's true main event.

Whether WWE trust the duo enough to put them on last remains to be seen, but this is bound to be one of the most captivating bouts of the entire night.

As for the winner, the smart money seems to be with Banks. She has only just won the title, and it would be strange to see her drop it now.

A victory here could see this feud come to an end for now, allowing the two to move on and face fresh challengers.

Prediction: Sasha Banks

Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins

5 of 5

The influence of both Chris Jericho and Triple H on this rivalry makes picking a winner in the Universal Championship match between Kevin Owens and Seth Rollins a difficult task.

If it was a straight decision with no outside interferences, solidifying Owens' reign with the strap would be the smartest choice.

But who knows what will happen, particularly inside Hell in a Cell? Jericho could yet cost Rollins, but he could also turn on Owens and hand Seth an ideal opportunity to win the title.

That said, WWE fans are still mystified by Triple H's actions a couple of months ago when he aligned with Owens.

Will The Game return? Will Y2J have a say? Or will it be an uneventful night?

Don't expect the latter to come to fruition, but somehow, expect Owens to escape with the Universal Championship around his waist.

Prediction: Kevin Owens
