After a few weeks on the shelf, WWE SmackDown Women's Champion Becky Lynch made her return to WWE programming Tuesday night on SmackDown Live.

The WWE Universe welcomed her back:

Lynch would be joined in the ring by Alexa Bliss, and her nemesis accused her of having back surgery, which Lynch denied, via WWE:

The two eventually started to fight, and Bliss would ultimately be the one standing tall, spraying yellow paint down Lynch's spine, via WWE:

The Lass Kicker was slated to defend her title against Bliss at No Mercy, but an undisclosed ailment kept her from competing.

As seen in this tweet from Lynch, the injury or illness left her confined to a hospital bed, while Bliss went on to face Naomi in a losing effort instead:

It was later announced that Lynch would instead defend her championship against Bliss on Nov. 8 as part of a SmackDown Live show in Glasgow, Scotland.

With a title opportunity still on the horizon for Bliss, she did everything possible to get inside the head of her Irish rival.

She questioned the authenticity of Lynch's health issues and, as seen in this video courtesy of WWE, made it clear that she fully intended to cut her reign short:

With Bliss clearly fired up and ready for her shot, Lynch used her trademark sense of humor to counter the verbal barbs:

Lynch is undoubtedly among the best women's wrestlers in the world today, and it can be argued that she is one of the top all-around Superstars WWE has to offer, male or female.

She has regularly impressed with her aggressive in-ring performance since getting called up from NXT alongside Sasha Banks and Charlotte in the summer of 2015, while her personality and mic skills have progressed nicely as well.

Although the SmackDown Live women's division has impressed in recent weeks with Bliss, Naomi, Carmella and Nikki Bella doing some good things, Lynch is the unquestioned anchor and leader of the group.

Her return adds even more credibility to the ranks, and it is huge in terms of once again featuring the SmackDown Women's Championship and ensuring that it is a key part of weekly programming.

The buildup of Lynch's feud with Bliss was among the most entertaining parts of SmackDown prior to No Mercy, and while there was no payoff at the pay-per-view, they now have an opportunity to pick up where they left off and make the Nov. 8 SmackDown Live a huge deal.
