Liverpool Transfer News: Latest Reds Rumours, Players Linked with Winter Move
Liverpool are reportedly considering offering £25 million for Borussia Monchengladbach midfield gem Mahmoud Dahoud in January. Reds boss Jurgen Klopp is said to have sent his scouts to continue monitoring the 20-year-old ahead of a potential offer this winter.
Neil Fissler of the Sunday Express detailed Klopp's interest:
"The Reds were keen on securing a deal for Dahoud in the summer but were forced to abandon their move with the Bundesliga outfit determined to keep hold of their talisman.
However, it is claimed Dahou, whose deal at Gladbach ends in 2018, is refusing to sign new contract.
He has a release clause of £8.3m which can be triggered in 2017.

Dahoud has the dynamism Klopp traditionally covets in midfield. He's an energetic playmaker who combines tenacity and graft with natural guile.
It's a combination of traits that make Dahoud perfect for Klopp's intense, high-pressing game. As a budding young star, Dahoud would represent an obvious upgrade over the likes of Emre Can, Lucas Leiva and even skipper Jordan Henderson.
He'd be more like summer import Georginio Wijnaldum—in other words, a skilled all-rounder who can influence matches from every area of the pitch.

Squawka's Lewis Ambrose highlighted quality in possession as a particularly strong part of Dahoud's game: "On the ball is where Dahoud really excels. A terrific passer of the ball, he pretty much has every pass imaginable in his locker."
No wonder Liverpool have been keeping tabs on Dahoud for a while. In fact, the Anfield club saw a £25 million offer spurned by Monchengladbach back in August, according to Mel Henderson of the Sun. At the time, Henderson also noted that the Bundesliga side had warned Klopp not to return with a better offer.
Yet if Dahoud is reluctant to commit his future to Monchengladbach, the club may have no choice but to cash in. But it would still be tough for Klopp to convince the German outfit to part with one of its best players during the season.
A deal struck for next summer seems the most likely outcome from this simmering transfer saga.
Liverpool Among Suitors for Jean-Kevin Duverne
Liverpool aren't only the trail of Dahoud. The Reds are also reportedly on the case of the 19-year-old Lens centre-back Jean-Kevin Duverne, according to France Football (h/t the Liverpool Echo's Neil Jones).
Those reports place Liverpool in a lengthy queue for the teenage French defender. It's a group also said to include Premier League sides Southampton and Tottenham Hotspur, as well as Championship outfit Newcastle United.
One other interesting note from the report compares Duverne to Real Madrid's Raphael Varane. The commanding and ultra-athletic central defender made the jump from Lens to the upper echelons of European football in 2011.

Liverpool would welcome a talented young centre-back. Defence is still a concern under Klopp, especially with Mamadou Sakho's status uncertain. The Frenchman was the Reds' best defender last season, but he was made available for loan following a BBC Sport-reported spat with Klopp during pre-season.
Joel Matip has since joined Dejan Lovren at the back, but a true talisman is still needed.
Casting an eye toward France, a country with an excellent recent record of producing quality young centre-backs, such as Varane, Kurt Zouma and Samuel Umtiti, is a good way for Klopp to step up his search for defensive reinforcements.
