Hunter Pence Fouls Ball Off His Face, Stays in the Game

Fans will need to update those famous Hunter Pence signs following Saturday night. 

The San Francisco Giants outfielder fouled a pitch from Washington Nationals starter Stephen Strasburg off home plate in the second inning, and the ball bounced up into Pence's face. He immediately exited the batter's box and winced in pain. 

He was left with a souvenir for his troubles. Baseball seams could be seen on Pence's face as doctors examined him. 

He nevertheless remained in the game but struck out swinging. 

Reference this moment the next time somebody suggests baseball isn't a contact sport.
