
Keith Appling Arrested: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction
Former Michigan State basketball player Keith Appling has been arrested for carrying a concealed weapon.
Per the Associated Press (via ESPN.com), Detroit police Sgt. Michael Woody confirmed Appling was arrested Saturday after officers saw Appling, who was a passenger in a car that was stopped for speeding, "place a weapon under a seat."
This is the second time in less than two months that Appling has been in trouble with the law, as he was previously charged with carrying a concealed weapon and in possession of marijuana after being arrested outside of a strip club on May 1, per the AP (via Fox Sports).

Wayne County prosecutors told the AP that Appling "was in the driver's seat, under which officers found a handgun. There was also a loaded weapon in the trunk and a small amount of suspected marijuana."
Appling's lawyer, Cyril Hill, said following the initial arrest that "police were looking for a different car" and he doesn't "know why they searched his vehicle." Dearborn police lieutenant Ronald Beggs said Appling was "cooperative at the scene and while in custody," per the AP report.
Appling has a court appearance scheduled for June 24 for a hearing on those initial charges that would determine if it goes to trial.
The 24-year-old Appling, who is from Detroit and played college basketball at Michigan State from 2010 to 2014, played with the Erie Bayhawks in the NBA Development League and five games with the Orlando Magic last season.
