Zach Brown Decommits from UConn: Latest Details, Comments and Reaction
Connecticut has lost one of its prized basketball recruits for 2017, as Zach Brown has decommitted from the Huskies.
Per Evan Daniels of Scout.com, Brown and UConn agreed to a mutual parting of ways after he committed to the program in January.
Per David Borges of the New Haven Register, Brown had a "positive" conference call with Connecticut head coach Kevin Ollie. Borges also noted that it just wasn't the right fit for Brown and the Huskies.

Even though it's still early in the recruiting process for 2017, 247Sports now has zero commitments pledged to Connecticut for next year.
Brown would have been a terrific centerpiece for Ollie to build his class around. He's a 7'1" center from Miami who is a 4-star prospect, the second-ranked player in the state of Florida, third-ranked center and 29th-ranked overall player.
When Brown originally announced his commitment to Connecticut, he said the university "is a brotherhood, and also that they want to make sure that you're not only doing well in basketball," per Dom Amore of the Hartford Courant.
Daniels noted that when Brown committed to UConn, he also had scholarship offers from Florida, Georgia, Miami and North Carolina State, among others. In 247Sports' Crystal Ball projections, Kentucky was given the second-best chances of landing Brown at 10 percent.
Brown was a very early commit, as he couldn't sign a letter of intent until November, so it's a good thing that he and Connecticut were able to figure this out with enough time for both sides to have an opportunity to make the best of this situation.
Given Brown's status as an elite recruit, he won't have any problem finding a college.
Connecticut, which had the No. 6-ranked class in 2016, will still be able to lure prized recruits to make next year's crop of incoming players strong.
