Shane Mosley Rescues Baby from Car Accident After Avoiding Freeway Pile-Up
Former world boxing champion “Sugar” Shane Mosley has described the moment he rescued a baby from a car after a pile-up on the 405 freeway.
According to CBS Los Angeles, the boxer got out of the car to assist those involved in the four-car crash, which included an infant in a car seat who was “screaming and bleeding.”
The 44-year-old said the driver of the car, the baby’s father, was dazed and couldn’t open the passenger door, prompting Mosley and his girlfriend to help.
He posted the following messages on Twitter in the aftermath, revealing he narrowly avoided being involved in the accident:
“You don’t know if the car is going to catch fire, what’s going to happen, then seeing there’s a baby in there…” Mosley told KCAL9 reporter Brittney Hopper, per CBS. “He (the father) was crying and saying, you guys are like an angel, and thank you for helping me. And being there for me and protecting my son.”
According to CBS the fighter called paramedics to the scene and on the way to the hospital, Mosley called the baby’s mother, who is pregnant with her second child.

The veteran fighter is a former three-weight world champion and has beaten some of the biggest names in the sport, including Oscar de la Hoya on two occasions. Mosley has also been in the ring with icons like Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, although was unable to best either.
He’ll fight for the 60th time in his professional career on May 28, going up against David Avanesyan in Arizona. CBS note Mosley has given the family tickets to that bout.
