Spoelstra Comments on Richardson's Playing Status

Sunday, May 1

Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra said Richardson is "ready to go" for Game 7 on Sunday, per Tim Reynolds of the Associated Press.

Richardson Provides Heat with Key Bench Depth

The 22-year-old has played 30.5 minutes per night in the series, averaging seven points, 3.5 rebounds and two assists over the six games.

According to Basketball-Reference.com, his 1.7 made threes per 36 minutes were third-highest on the team in the regular season, and he was first in three-point percentage (46.1 percent). His shooting has fallen off a bit in the playoffs, though. He's shooting 33.3 percent from the field and 36 percent from beyond the arc against the Hornets.

While Richardson isn't one of Miami's key players, having depth on the bench is vital for the Heat at this stage of the year. If the team envisions making a run deep into the summer, it will need somebody off the bench who can spell Dwyane Wade for stretches and contribute in a meaningful way. Richardson can be that guy.
