Who Will The Rams Pick?
Jared Goff, QB, California
The Rams made their move to get a franchise quarterback, and now they're left with a decision in California's Jared Goff and North Dakota State's Carson Wentz.
Sources have told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Thursday that the Rams are leaning toward Goff but "would also consider" Wentz.
However, Bleacher Report's Matt Miller doesn't think that this should be a hard decision:
Goff helped sway those choosing between himself and Wentz thanks to a solid Pro Day, as Mike Mayock of NFL Network explained (h/t the NFL's twitter account):
Another thing in Goff's favor was that he built his draft stock in the highest level of college football unlike Wentz, who played his football in the FCS.
He threw for 4,714 yards last season with 43 touchdowns and 13 interceptions while completing almost 65 percent of his passes.
Goff has solid footwork, which is a great foundation for any prospective professional quarterback to build upon. It helps open up a big arm that can deliver the ball at high speeds, and he can fit it into almost any window.
Having played his college football at Cal and having a hometown kid of sorts leading the newly located Los Angeles team could also appeal to some of the new fans, too.
If handled correctly, Goff could develop into a quarterback like Matt Ryan, though, whichever team drafts him will hope that he can bring some playoff success.
