WWE Payback 2016: Undercard Matches Fans Deserve to See
We already know that the main event of WWE Payback 2016 will see Roman Reigns defend his World Heavyweight Championship against AJ Styles. That will certainly be a compelling match to close the show, but the depth of the current main roster means that there will be much more to enjoy on the card.
Between the tournament to decide the next contenders for the tag team titles, the rejuvenated women's division and the recent influx of talent from NXT, there's a lot going on in the undercard at present.
As the full Payback card continues to take shape, here are a few matches that fans deserve to see come May 1.

The Usos vs. The New Day

As much as WWE could use the currently unfolding tag team tournament to strap a rocket to Enzo Amore and Colin Cassady, there's perhaps more value to the bracket in setting up a showdown between the two definitive tag teams of the last couple of years.
The New Day and The Usos are the only two pairings fans have really got on board with who are still currently active in the tag division. It seems clear that tag teams are going to be given a spotlight going forward, but it makes sense to reward these two standouts with a big match for the belts.
With the tournament structure adding some gravitas to proceedings, the tag title match could be a real standout at Payback. Both teams are very talented between the ropes, but we've yet to see the definitive contest between them.
Emma vs. Becky Lynch

WWE has done great work in bringing its presentation of women's wrestling back from the brink, but if the division is limited to just one match on a typical pay-per-view card, competition will soon grow stale.
Non-title matches like this one will help the division remain dynamic, with potential title contenders rising and falling in the ranks even as the champion continues to defend the title. In the Divas Championship era, new challengers often seemed to come out of nowhere, and that can't happen again.
A match between Emma and Becky Lynch would be good for the division, but it's also a great addition to Payback in its own right. Emma is one of the more underrated wrestlers on the roster at the moment, and Lynch proved her right to be considered a top-tier talent over the course of her WrestleMania feud.
The WWE finally has a women's division that it can be proud of, so why not showcase it? The likely title match between Charlotte and Natalya looks set to impress, but there's plenty of room on a three-hour show to represent more than just challenger and champion.
Sami Zayn vs. Kevin Owens

When Sami Zayn and Kevin Owens were announced as two of the competitors in the multi-man ladder match at WrestleMania 32, many assumed that it would be the setup for a feud between the longtime rivals over the Intercontinental Championship.
Of course, that didn't happen—instead, the bout transitioned the title away from the pair while maintaining the tension between the two. That was a great decision, as this match really doesn't need a title on the line to be a compelling part of Payback.
Independent wrestling aficionados will know that Zayn and Owens have been doing this for some time. Their ongoing rivalry has been years in the making, rearing its head in various different promotions and supplying jaw-dropping matches throughout.
We saw the feud reignited last year as the pair battled over the NXT Championship. Many would be keen to see The Underdog from the Underground face KO with the WWE World Heavyweight Championship on the line one day, but it's important that the personal aspect of their conflict doesn't fall by the wayside.
If there were gold on the line every time Zayn and Owens met in WWE, there'd be a risk that their feud wouldn't reach the heights it has elsewhere. With that in mind, a non-title grudge match is the best prospect for both men at this point in time, not to mention a huge addition to the Payback pay-per-view.
