Ben Ijalana to Jets: Latest Contract Details, Comments and Reaction
After the surprising retirement of left tackle D'Brickashaw Ferguson on Friday, the New York Jets addressed their offensive line depth by signing Ben Ijalana on Saturday.
According to ESPN.com's Rich Cimini, the deal is for one year, and financial terms have yet to be disclosed.
The 26-year-old Ijalana spent each of the past three seasons as a reserve lineman and Ferguson's primary backup for the Jets.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Ferguson announced his retirement after 10 NFL seasons with a letter on the Jets' website.
While Ferguson's retirement made offensive tackle a huge area of need for Gang Green, Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News reported the Jets planned to bring Ijalana back for a fourth season with the team regardless.
Despite the signing, New York still has some major question marks at both left and right tackle, as evidenced by this look at the depth chart, courtesy of Joe Caporoso of Turn On The Jets:
Ijalana was a second-round pick by the Indianapolis Colts out of Villanova in 2011, and he has never started a game in five NFL seasons.
He saw extremely limited action during his first three campaigns with the Jets, as Ferguson never missed a game and missed just one snap in his entire 160-game career.
Ijalana gives the Jets a player who is familiar with the organization and offensive coordinator Chan Gailey's system at the very least, but it seems unlikely that he is the answer to replacing Ferguson.
New York does possess the No. 20 overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft, though, so it could target a tackle, which would put Ijalana in the backup role that best suits him at this point.
