Top Committed Stars
Lonzo Ball, UCLA
One of the most physically impressive players in Chicago this week, Lonzo Ball continues to give UCLA faithful something to look forward to after the Bruins stumbled to a 15-17 mark this season.
Ball stands at 6'6" and 185 pounds and is a score-first guard who doesn't have any problems dishing the ball to teammates and filling up the stat sheet.
After Ball received an individual honor, Jim Halley of USA Today broke down his jaw-dropping stat lines: "Led his team to a 35-0 record, the state Open Division Championship and the No. 1 spot in the Super 25 ranking. He averaged 23.6 points, 11.5 rebounds and 11.4 assists per game and was the Gatorade State Player of the Year."
ESPN's Jeff Borzello has taken in the action from Chicago this week and doesn't have any problems praising Ball to anyone who will listen:
Indeed, concerns about how Ball would stack up among the best of the best seem quite unfounded.
While only seventh in 247Sports' composite rankings, Ball's ability to prove doubters wrong and stand tall among prospects headed to even bigger programs gets him a nod here.
UCLA fans have something special to watch Wednesday, to say the least.
Jayson Tatum, Duke
Duke faithful know to be on the lookout for Jayson Tatum this week.
Coming in at a college-ready 6'9" and 203 pounds, Tatum has accomplished a little bit of everything on his way to joining the Blue Devils, including most recently winning a state title by leading Chaminade to a 72-59 win against Kickapoo, scoring 40 points in the process.
It's a small sampling of what Tatum can do as a prospect. He's an elite defender at this stage of his development and can play almost any position on the offensive end of the court.
Tatum's coach, Frank Bennett, wasn't shy about praising the potential lottery pick when speaking with Rance Burger of the Springfield News-Leader: "[Tatum] is special. There’s a reason why he’s our school’s all-time leading scorer and he has all the accolades that he has. I couldn’t be any prouder, I really couldn’t.”
While many praise Kentucky's recruiting class for guys like Da'Aaron Fox and Malik Monk, Tatum is the type of player who can define a class on his own. This talent will show in a major way among the best of the best Wednesday night.
Not that he has to do it alone, especially with Harry Giles on the way.
Miles Bridges, Michigan State
Though eighth in 247Sports' composite rankings, Miles Bridges heads to the Michigan State Spartans as one of the most impressive prospects set to take Chicago by storm, especially with Giles and Dennis Smith not in attendance.
Bridges comes in at a pro-ready 6'6" and 225 pounds, an asset that already has Michigan State coach Tom Izzo believing next year's could be the most talented team he's coached.
Those are big words, but why not? Few even at the collegiate level can match Bridges' size and speed. A slasher who can finish at the rim or find the open guy after the defense collapses, this lock for the Spartans' starting five also continues to show better extended range on his jumper.
Oh, and he can throw it down pretty well too, as captured by Big Ten Network's Taylor Rooks:
Bridges has it all and it's that type of surefire showing he's going to put on Wednesday that Michigan State fans need to see after that soul-crushing loss in the NCAA tournament.
Down the road, Bridges well help form a collegiate basketball superpower with the Spartans, but for now he'll surely want to set out and come away as the best-looking prospect at the annual showcase.
