Big Ten Tournament 2016: Semifinals Schedule, Live Stream, Bracket Predictions
The No. 1 seed has gone down, and the Big Ten tournament may be Michigan State's to claim.
At the start of the Big Ten tournament in Indianapolis, it looked like it could come down to top-seeded Indiana vs. second-seeded Michigan State for the championship, but the Hoosiers got shot down when Michigan's Kameron Chatman hit a three-point shot with less than a second on the clock in the quarterfinal round.
That shot gave the Wolverines a huge victory and gave them a spot in the Big Ten semifinal round against fourth-seeded Purdue. It also kept Michigan's NCAA hopes alive.

Report: Biggest Spenders in Men's CBB 🤑
Even though the Wolverines came through in dramatic fashion in their first two tournament games against Northwestern and Indiana, they have a difficult assignment on their hands when they meet Purdue Saturday at 1 p.m. ET.
The Boilermakers proved to be a consistent team throughout the season, and their 25-7 record indicates that they know how to come through when the game is on the line.
Purdue could be in trouble if it is looking past Michigan, but that is something head coach Matt Painter will not let happen. Painter excels at preparing his team and not allowing his team to look ahead. The game at hand is the only one that matters to Purdue, so the Wolverines should expect the Boilermakers' best effort.

A.J. Hammons is a big-time scorer who leads the Boilermakers in scoring with 14.8 points per game. He is also a powerful rebounder, and he's second on the team in that category with 7.8 boards per game.
Vince Edwards and Caleb Swanigan also reached double figures in scoring for Purdue, and Swanigan proved to be a dominant rebounder with 8.2 boards per game.
Michigan has made the most of its opportunity in the Big Ten tournament to this point, but it will have to show it can compete for 40 minutes against Purdue. The Wolverines managed to beat Purdue by five points when the two teams met in Ann Arbor, but Purdue knocked the Wolverines off by 17 points in the game at West Lafayette.
Michigan has been getting the job done with balanced scoring. Zak Irvin had 17 points in the win over Indiana, and the Wolverines had three others in Muhammad-Ali Abdur-Rahkman, Mark Donnal and Duncan Robinson who reached double figures.
Since Caris LeVert is out for the season with a leg injury, the Wolverines need that kind of balance to have a chance.
But Michigan is now facing the iron of the Big Ten, and Purdue is just too good and too determined to let this chance to play in the championship game pass them by. Look for Purdue to finish off Michigan in the final two minutes of this game.
While Michigan-Purdue should be a good game, the second semifinal between Michigan State and Maryland should be the featured attraction Saturday.

Michigan State came into the Big Ten tournament as the favorite to win (according to Odds Shark), and it is expected to get a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament Sunday.
This is a team that has all the elements to finish off the Big Ten Tournament in championship fashion and possibly do the same thing in the NCAA tournament.
Michigan State has a brilliant coach in Tom Izzo, a national player of the year candidate in Denzel Valentine and a smart, hustling supporting cast that knows how to come through in the clutch.
Bryn Forbes is one of the best outside shooters in the country, connecting on 50.5 percent of his three-point shots, while Matt Costello will fight for every loose ball and can assert his will on the glass.

Maryland rarely gets the credit it deserves from the Big Ten cognoscenti, possibly because the Terrapins are still newcomers to the conference.
After years in the ACC, the Terps are in their second year of Big Ten competition. They have been up to the challenge, and that's why they earned the No. 3 seed. Melo Trimble and Diamond Stone are a formidable combination, and that duo is capable of giving powerful Michigan State all it can handle.
But if Maryland is going to win and derail the Spartans, it may have to play its best game of the year while Michigan State comes up with a subpar effort.
Look for Maryland to play a sensational game, but it won't be enough to beat the Spartans, who are simply too tough when the game is on the line.
