ACC Tournament 2016: Round 2 Schedule, Live Stream Info and Bracket Predictions

Mike NorrisMar 9, 2016

The Atlantic Coast Conference kicked off its tournament on Tuesday with first-round victories from the North Carolina State Wolfpack and Florida State Seminoles.

Play moves into the second round on Wednesday with the field narrowed to 12, and the top four seeds receive one more bye before playing in Thursday's quarterfinal round.

The second round should provide plenty of drama with four games, including the No. 8 Pittsburgh Panthers versus the No. 9 Syracuse Orange, according to ESPN bracketologist Joe Lunardi:

Neither team has cemented itself in the tournament, as Lunardi had Pitt as one of his "Last Four Byes," while Syracuse fell under the "Last Four In" category as of Tuesday night.

Here's a look at the schedule for the second round and some predictions for the rest of the bracket.

Predictions

The second round should be interesting with the even matchup at noon ET, followed by an interesting 12/5 game with the Duke Blue Devils against North Carolina State.

Duke, whose 19 conference tournament titles lead the league, isn't used to playing early while the top programs kick back with an extra day of rest, but that is exactly what happened this year.

Even so, the Blue Devils will handle a Wolfpack squad that struggled with a Wake Forest Demon Deacons team that won two ACC games this year.

In the night session, the No. 7 Clemson Tigers play the No. 10 Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in a matchup that won't break any Nielsen ratings. However, despite the fact the two schools went a combined 18-18 in ACC play, together they have wins over the No. 4 Virginia Cavaliers, No. 11 Miami Hurricanes, No. 14 Louisville Cardinals and No. 19 Duke (all national ranks).

They split the regular-season series, but the Tigers have a slight edge in talent and should pull this one out.

Virginia Tech, on the other and, is an interesting case.

Head coach Buzz Williams has the Hokies trending in the right direction with wins in their past five games. They have victories over Miami and Virginia and won 10 conference games after winning just 11 total games last year.

However, junior forward Zach LeDay isn't looking for any moral victories, per  of the Washington Post:

"

We had a lot of ground to make up, being in last place for the past three or four years. People weren’t going to give us anything. We had to go out and take it. Now being a six seed in this conference is very difficult. We just want to prove that we’re higher than a six seed, that we can beat higher teams. We’ve done it before.

"

LeDay and the Hokies beat Florida State by 10 in February, but that was within the friendly confines of Cassell Coliseum. Now, they are playing on a neutral court against a Seminoles team with some momentum after a convincing win over Boston College.

In a crazy college basketball season that has seen top-five teams get upset on a weekly basis, Virginia Tech can't worry about the seed it drew—it has to make sure it doesn't overlook a Florida State team that's won three in a row and, like the Hokies, can boast about knocking off the No. 4 Cavaliers.

March Madness is just getting started, but you won't have to wait until the Big Dance to witness madness. The way this season has gone, it would be a shock if there wasn't at least a little chaos on Wednesday.
