
College Basketball Announcer Ejected from Game by Referee Because of Gestures
While Green Bay Phoenix radio broadcaster Matt Menzl may have some experience calling games, nothing could have prepared him for the situation he found himself in at Joe Louis Arena in Detroit on Monday.
Menzl was on the call for Green Bay's Horizon League tournament semifinals matchup against the Valparaiso Crusaders. At some point, he did something that didn't sit well with a referee—so the official tossed him.

Although he was initially sent off, the Phoenix broadcaster was able to come back and resume his duties:

It's a good thing Menzl was able to return to his post because Green Bay and Valparaiso were involved in a pretty good battle, which featured a last-second layup to send the game to overtime. The Phoenix went on to pull out a 99-92 victory in overtime to advance to the tournament finals.
