Both teams started off the game in a sluggish manner as points came at a premium over the first seven minutes. West Virginia went into the locker room with a three-point advantage and extended its lead to as much as 12 midway through the second half.
Baylor made it a contest thanks to Taurean Prince, who knocked down three consecutive shots from beyond the arc, but the Mountaineers were too much for them to handle in the end.
Jaysean Paige led the Mountaineers with 14 points, while Daxter Miles contributed 10 of his own and Tarik Phillip recorded 11 points. Prince was the lone Baylor player in double figures as he recorded 19 in defeat.
