Virginia Student Banks in Half-Court Shot on 'College GameDay' to Win $18,000

Kyle NewportFeb 27, 2016

Regardless of whether or not the Virginia Cavaliers knock off the ACC-leading North Carolina Tar Heels, one Virginia student is going to go to sleep happy Saturday night.

ESPN's College GameDay made the trip to Charlottesville, Virginia, this weekend for the top-10 showdown between the No. 3 Cavaliers and No. 7 Tar Heels. While there is sure to be some good basketball played in that contest, the action got started hours before the game was set to tip off.

Virginia student Andrew Board was given 18 seconds to try to make a half-court shot for $18,000. He didn't need the full 18 seconds—he only needed one shot.

Perhaps this shot is a good sign for Cavaliers fans. And maybe Board should suit up just in case the team needs his magic.
