WWE Has Systematically Destroyed The Wyatt Family as a Credible Stable

Amid all the talking points heading out of WWE Fastlane 2016, one seemed to stand out more than any other: What's next for The Wyatt Family?

Yet again, the Wyatts came out of a major pay-per-view looking weaker than when they went into it, and serious questions surely have to be asked now about the future of the group.

Make no mistake about it: WWE has completely messed up its booking of Bray and his family.

The Wyatts could have been the most feared, revered stable to hit the company in years—but now they look like nothing more than a set of midcarders who are thrown into a storyline with little planning or thought.

That was never more apparent than at Fastlane, where they somehow ended up feuding with Ryback, Big Show and Kane. And they didn't just fight three guys who have little relevance in WWE's landscape—they ended up losing to them.

Sure, they got the win back the next night on Raw, but couldn't things have been done the other way around? WWE should have pinned the victory on The Wyatt Family on pay-per-view and give it some momentum for WrestleMania, not leave the group at the bottom of the ladder with no prospects.

We were hearing over and over again that Brock Lesnar would face Bray Wyatt at WrestleMania, which would have been another huge main event for Bray to appear in. Instead, what's The Eater of Worlds going to do at the biggest show of the year? Lose poorly promoted and uninteresting rivalries yet again?

You go back a couple of years—or even just a few months—and things could have been so different for The Wyatt Family. WWE has, piece by piece, destroyed it as a worthy stable that could be anything it wants to be.

WWE even tried drafting Braun Strowman in to give the Wyatts an edge, but he's suddenly found himself on the losing side more often than not, too.

Just how depleted does the roster have to get for Bray—who is undoubtedly one of the most interesting characters WWE has—to get an opportunity at the top of the card? He's the one who comes out of this latest loss looking the worst yet again. Sure, he wasn't involved at Fastlane, but it was his faction that came up short, which only further reminded everyone of WWE's grim track record with Bray.

He loses almost every single noteworthy feud he enters. It could be John Cena, Kane, Daniel Bryan—name anyone, and Wyatt has come up short against him.

Why can't WWE treat The Wyatt Family like a real stable? The Wyatts don't just all have to support Bray—they can go off and do their own things. This is a loose comparison with one of the finest factions in wrestling history, but look at D-Generation X. That team had Billy Gunn and Road Dogg pursuing tag gold, Triple H ruling at the head of the faction and a strong female presence in Chyna.

That's not to say The Wyatt Family should have a female member, but it could at least set Luke Harper and Erick Rowan up an assault at the tag titles. Strowman could become a menacing presence in the midcard. And who knows, WWE could even dare to let Bray pick up a major feud and actually win.

WrestleMania will be hugely important for many of WWE's Superstars, but perhaps for nobody more than The Wyatt Family. WWE has ruined the group's momentum over and over again—you wonder where the Wyatts will go from here.
