UNC 96, Miami 71—Final

The fifth-ranked North Carolina Tar Heels smashed the No. 11 Miami Hurricanes 96-71 on Saturday in Chapel Hill.

Brice Johnson paced UNC (22-5, 11-3 ACC) with 16 points and 14 rebounds, and four other Tar Heels—led by Justin Jackson's 15—netted double figures.

North Carolina, which is now alone atop the conference standings, nailed 9-of-20 three-pointers after misfiring on 12 of its 13 attempts against Duke. The long ball helped the Heels open the second half on a decisive 22-5 run.

Miami dropped to 21-5 on the year and 10-4 in ACC play. Angel Rodriguez and Ivan Cruz Uceda each netted 12 points.

Standout guards Sheldon McClellan (ankle) and Ja'Quan Newton (knee) each exited the contest in the second half due to injury. The duo finished a combined 3-of-12 from the floor.
