The No. 8 Maryland Terrapins (18-3, 7-2 Big Ten) earned their first win over an AP Top 25 team this season on Thursday as they downed the No. 3 Iowa Hawkeyes (16-4, 7-1) at the Xfinity Center.
Maryland's victory at home also handed the Hawkeyes their first loss of Big Ten play two days after the Indiana Hoosiers fell from the ranks of the conference unbeaten.

The Terrapins were in the lead for the majority of the first half thanks to their silencing of Iowa star Jarrod Uthoff, who didn't record his first field goal until the 18:15 mark of the second half.
Iowa and Maryland exchanged the lead on plenty of occasions in the second half, but the Terrapins finally distanced themselves from the Hawkeyes while Adam Woodbury was on the bench in foul trouble. Robert Carter, who was one of two Maryland players to score 17 points, took advantage of Woodbury's absence in the paint by making a few key shots.
Maryland kept Iowa in the game with poor shooting from beyond the arc, but the Hawkeyes failed to capitalize on that due to the strong defense from the hosts. Carter and Rasheed Sulaimon contributed 17 points each for Maryland, while Peter Jok led Iowa with 14 points.
Iowa is now tied with Indiana atop the Big Ten standings, while Maryland is a half game back entering February.
