Maryland vs. Michigan State: Live Score, Highlights and Reaction

No. 11 Michigan State 74, No. 7 Maryland 65 

The No. 11 Michigan State Spartans (17-4, 4-4 Big Ten) snapped a three-game losing streak with a win over the No. 7 Maryland Terrapins (17-3, 6-2) at the Breslin Center on Saturday night. 

The trio of Bryn Forbes, Denzel Valentine and Matt Costello made massive contributions on each end of the court to help the Spartans move back to .500 in the Big Ten. 

Forbes led the Spartans in scoring with 25 points, while Valentine and Costello did plenty of work on the boards against an outmatched Terrapins frontcourt. 

Maryland put together an 8-2 run at the start of the second half to erase a six-point halftime deficit, but the Spartans responded with a pair of runs later in the second half to pull away from the visitors. 

Star guard Melo Trimble attempted to bring the Terrapins back into the game with five minutes to go, but Costello's play in the paint was too much for Maryland to handle. 

In the final minute, Costello grabbed a key offensive rebound to allow Forbes to go to free-throw line and then blocked a shot on the right side of the paint. After that sequence, Michigan State sealed the victory at the line. 

Costello recorded his fifth double-double of the season with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Forbes led all scorers with 25 points, while Valentine contributed 19 points, 14 rebounds and eight assists. 

Trimble scored 24 points on 9-of-17 shooting to lead Maryland, and Robert Carter added 13 points in defeat.
