Butler Will Wear Jersey Patches Honoring Andrew Smith the Rest of the Season
Thomas DuffyJan 14, 2016
On Thursday, two days after former Bulldog Andrew Smith died of cancer, the Butler basketball team announced it would honor the late player with a jersey patch.
The patch is above the Nike logo on the right side, and it reads "AS44." The team will wear it the rest of the season.
Smith was an Academic All-American and helped the team get to the NCAA championship game in both 2010 and 2011. He was playing professionally in Lithuania when he was first diagnosed with cancer in 2014.
