The Cavaliers (13-3, 2-2 ACC) were up 27-23 at halftime but then traded the lead for several minutes before going on a 7-0 run to take a 50-45 advantage with 7:49 left. London Perrantes keyed the second-half surge by scoring all 13 of his points after the break.
Malcolm Brogdon had 20 points and Anthony Gill added 15 for Virginia, which held Miami (13-2, 2-1) to 25 points below its season scoring average.
