Conley Reportedly Could Be Lost for Season
Monday, April 4
Ronald Tillery of the Commercial Appeal reported Conley was re-evaluated last week and it "was determined that it is in Conley's best interest to not return to action until the 2016-17 season."
On March 10, Tillery reported Conley is out indefinitely.
Conley Unable to Shake Injury Bug
Conley has been hobbled by injuries, despite playing in most of Memphis' games. The 28-year-old was on the bench with an Achilles issue on Jan. 6 against Oklahoma City, which came shortly after he suffered injuries to his abdomen and back.
The injuries have clearly affected Conley's play this season. He's shooting a career-worst 42.4 percent from the floor, and his scoring average is at its lowest level since 2012-13. Through 56 games this season, Conley is averaging 15.3 points, 6.1 assists and 2.9 rebounds.
Scoring has been hard to come by for the Grizzlies this season, who rank near the bottom in offensive efficiency and in points per game, per Basketball-Reference.com. Conley is one of their few impact scorers when healthy, so it's clear how vital his presence is going to be for the team down the stretch.
