Entering Saturday's contest, the junior had averaged just 2.8 points while playing 9.4 minutes per game for the No. 10 Wildcats. Against Ole Miss, he failed to score a point but did record one assist prior to suffering the injury.
However, he was coming off his best game of the season. He scored a career-high 13 points and added one rebound and one assist in 26 minutes Dec. 26 in a 75-73 win over the rival Louisville Cardinals.
His head coach, John Calipari, praised Hawkins after he sank two late free throws to help ice the game, per Mark Story of Kentucky.com.
