The No. 2 Kansas Jayhawks (12-1, 1-0 Big 12) started their latest defense of the Big 12 regular-season title with a dominant performance at home against the No. 23 Baylor Bears (10-3, 0-1) on Saturday. 

Bill Self's team wasted little time distancing itself from the visiting Bears as it opened up a 24-4 lead in the first 6:30 of the contest. Wayne Selden was the top performer for Kansas during the hot start as he made a trio of three-pointers and was perfect from the field. 

Baylor attempted to pull within single digits of the Jayhawks during the final five minutes of the first half, but the Bears weren't up to the task because of poor defense. 

Led by Selden and three other double-digit scorers, Kansas didn't let Baylor back into the game during the second half. Selden ended with 24 points, while Perry Ellis contributed 17 points. Devonte Graham had 15 for the Jayhawks and Frank Mason had 11. 

With the win, Kansas should move into the No. 1 spot in the AP Top 25 after a loss by the Michigan State Spartans on Tuesday to the Iowa Hawkeyes. If the Oklahoma Sooners win later on Saturday, Kansas will play Oklahoma in a No. 1 versus No. 2 game on Monday at Allen Fieldhouse. 

Taurean Prince scored 17 points in defeat for the Bears, who head home to face the Oklahoma State Cowboys on Tuesday.
