Kentucky vs. Ohio State: Live Score, Highlights and Reaction
Ohio State 74, No. 4 Kentucky 67
The Ohio State Buckeyes held off a second-half surge led by Jamal Murray to take down the No. 4 Kentucky Wildcats at the CBS Sports Classic at Barclays Center.
Ohio State jumped into the lead in the first half behind some strong shooting and porous defending from the Wildcats. The Buckeyes used a 12-2 run midway through the first half to break away from John Calipari's team.
After Kentucky made a brief run that cut the lead to single digits, JaQuan Lyle hit a buzzer-beater to kill any momentum the Wildcats created in the final phase of the first half.
The Wildcats clawed back to within three points in the second half behind a superb shooting display from Murray. The freshman finished with 33 points on 13-for-23 shooting. He was 7-for-9 from three-point range. Murray's 30-point performance was the first for Kentucky since Brandon Knight scored over 30 on March 19, 2011, per the team's Twitter account.
Despite the effort from Murray, Kentucky came up short in the final few minutes. A putback layup and a defensive rebound by JaeSean Tate with a minute to go secured the victory for Ohio State.
Keita Bates-Diop led the Buckeyes with 14 points, while Marc Loving had 12 and Lyle contributed 11.
