LeSean McCoy Presented as Bills' Only Captain vs. Eagles
In the latest bit of patented Rex Ryan trollery, the Buffalo Bills coach named running back LeSean McCoy as the team's only captain for Sunday's game against the Philadelphia Eagles.
Albert Breer of NFL Network noted the change. McCoy, 27, spent his first six NFL seasons in Philadelphia before being traded to the Bills last offseason. The move created a bitter rift between McCoy and Eagles head coach Chip Kelly, which played out all week via public comments.
After Kelly said he would be open to shaking McCoy's hand if they came across one another at some point Sunday, the former Pro Bowler made it clear there was no chance of reconciliation.

"Listen, man, Chip can't shake s--- at all. Nothing. He knows this," McCoy said this week, per Mike Rodak and Phil Sheridan of ESPN.com. "That's why [he] said it. I know him. He's very intelligent. I can read between the lines. Like I said, I have nothing against him, no hatred. We're not enemies. I won't say anything wrong to him. But there's nothing for us to talk about, at all. Simple as that."
Kelly publicly apologized to McCoy later in the week for his handling of the trade. The coach said he was under the impression the deal would happen a day later than it did and was unable to contact McCoy before the news leaked.
"It wasn't handled that way, and I understand why he isn't happy about that," Kelly said, per Eliot Shorr-Parks of NJ.com. "And I apologize about that. It didn't happen the right way."
Ryan putting McCoy as his one and only captain is a clear gamesmanship move from one of the NFL's best controversy starters.
