Thompson suffered a sprained ankle during the team's record-setting start to the 2015-16 season, but it was hardly a major concern for a squad stacked with depth on the wing.
Thompson is a key cog in the league's most dynamic offense. Therefore, losing him for any period of time would have hindered the team's spacing and overall efficiency.
But as his brief early-season absence proved, Golden State can adapt if the injury resurfaces.
Ian Clark previously drew starts in place of Thompson. The Warriors are also flush with depth in the form of veterans Shaun Livingston, Leandro Barbosa and Brandon Rush, each of whom has legitimate scoring chops from different spots on the floor.
The Warriors were looking to close out the Cavaliers as quickly as possible after jumping out to a 2-0 start to the series, but their task becomes more difficult if Thompson isn't 100 percent.
