NFL Playoff Picture 2015: Week 14 Standings, Super Bowl Odds and Wild-Card Hunt
The playoff picture is far from clear with four weeks and one Monday Night Football game remaining in the 2015 NFL regular season.
Only the 2-10 Cleveland Browns are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, and only the undefeated Carolina Panthers are completely running away with their division.
The Arizona Cardinals, Denver Broncos, New England Patriots and Cincinnati Bengals all have healthy three-game leads, but in the NFL, anything can happen. After a 10-0 start, the Patriots have lost two in a row and have fallen from the No. 1 to No. 3 seed, which would require them to play a game during Wild Card Weekend.

AFC Wild-Card Picture
Taking a look at the AFC wild-card race requires wrapping your head around the fact that 5-7 teams still have a shot at the playoffs.
| (5) Kansas City Chiefs | 7-5 | vs. San Diego Chargers |
| (6) New York Jets | 7-5 | vs. Tennessee Titans |
| Pittsburgh Steelers | 7-5 | at Cincinnati Bengals |
| Buffalo Bills | 6-6 | at Philadelphia Eagles |
| Oakland Raiders | 5-7 | at Denver Broncos |
| Miami Dolphins | 5-7 | vs. New York Giants |
One of the most interesting teams in the NFL right now is the Kansas City Chiefs. Winners of six in a row, their 1-5 start feels like a lifetime ago.
They lost Pro Bowl running back Jamaal Charles to a season-ending knee injury but have gone 6-1 since, using unknowns Charcandrick West and Spencer Ware in the backfield.
Time Warner Cable Chiefs reporter Nick Jacobs said the Chiefs are feeling good about where they stand right now:
"The #Chiefs have a swagger about them right now. They appear to be building that mental toughness we talked about earlier this year.
— Nick Jacobs (@Jacobs71) December 7, 2015"
They should feel great about the future, considering their final four games are against teams with a combined 14-34 record.
The Jets are winners of two in a row and are in front of the Pittsburgh Steelers only because of their better record against AFC opponents.
However, scenarios can change in the blink of an eye, created by all-around mediocre play.
The Chiefs and Jets could separate themselves from the pack next week with winnable home games against the Tennessee Titans and San Diego Chargers, respectively. Pittsburgh, on the other hand, will be on the road against at Bengals team that just dismantled the Browns in Week 13, 37-3.
NFC Wild-Card Picture
| (5) Minnesota Vikings | 8-4 | at Arizona Cardinals |
| (6) Seattle Seahawks | 7-5 | at Baltimore Ravens |
| Tampa Bay Buccaneers | 6-6 | vs. New Orleans Saints |
| Atlanta Falcons | 6-6 | at Carolina Panthers |
| Philadelphia Eagles | 5-7 | vs. Buffalo Bills |
| New York Giants | 5-7 | at Miami Dolphins |
| Chicago Bears | 5-7 | vs. Washington |
Wild-card teams in the NFC have a little more separation than their AFC counterparts, but not much.
The Minnesota Vikings are 8-4 and have the luxury of also being alive for a division championship, as they are tied with the Green Bay Packers.
The final spot is occupied by the Seattle Seahawks, who just trounced Minnesota on its own field in Week 13, 38-7. The back-to-back NFC Champions have won three in a row while averaging more than 30 points per game.
Quarterback Russell Wilson is starting to return to form after a midseason slide, as seen in this stat provided by the Seahawks:
A team on the opposite end of the spectrum is the Atlanta Falcons. At one point, the Falcons were 5-0 and soaring high. Now, six losses in seven games later, they are at .500 and on the outside looking in.
What must not seem fair is that a team they beat, Washington, is 5-6 and leading its division. If the Dallas Cowboys beat Washington on Monday, the NFC East will have three teams tied for first with 5-7 records.
NFL Network analyst David Carr doesn't think too highly of the division:
It's safe to say the East will most likely not play a part in the wild-card scenario this year.
However, in a season where the No. 1 seed hasn't lost and the worst team in the conference (3-8 Dallas) is still alive for a division championship, surely anything can happen.
