Daily Fantasy Football November 30: DFS Stock Up, Stock Down

Rob GoldbergNov 30, 2015

No matter how well you did in Week 12, it is never too early to start thinking about the upcoming set of contests in daily fantasy football.

The past week featured some surprising performances both good and bad, with some of them reflected in the latest prices on DraftKings. The key is to take advantage of the good deals with those players on the rise and avoid those struggling.

Here is a look at the latest stock report as of Nov. 30.

Stock Up

Russell Wilson, QB, Seattle Seahawks ($5,600)

Very quietly, Russell Wilson had been one of the biggest busts in fantasy football this season. He was producing solid but unspectacular numbers despite being a high pick in most season-long leagues. However, he has exploded over the past two games:

First 9 Games235.3107116.8
Last 2 Games302.580231.8

Wilson has been able to air the ball out in recent weeks, finding Doug Baldwin for three touchdowns. Although Jimmy Graham is now out for the season with a knee injury, per ESPN's Sheil Kapadia, the two never really did get on the same page anyway.

In any case, the quarterback is becoming the fantasy weapon we all expected, although now he comes at an extremely reduced price on DraftKings. Even against a tough defense like the Minnesota Vikings, the value is there for a big game.

C.J. Anderson, RB, Denver Broncos ($3,500)

Although he is still technically a backup to Ronnie Hillman, C.J. Anderson looked like the running back we all expected him to be at the start of the year. He was a key part of the upset win over the New England Patriots, finishing with 153 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns, including this walk-off score in overtime:

Hillman played well and had a score of his own, but it is clear Anderson deserves more involvement going forward.

Most importantly, though, the Gary Kubiak offense is finally running as expected with Brock Osweiler under center instead of Peyton Manning. This gives value to both backs as they continue picking up big chunks of yardage.

It's obviously risky to trust Anderson this season, as he has followed big games with nothing before, but a matchup against a poor San Diego Chargers run defense gives him a great chance to keep up his recent play.

Amari Cooper, WR, Oakland Raiders ($6,900)

There are certainly players who had bigger games in Week 12, including Baldwin and Sammy Watkins (158 receiving yards and two touchdowns), but it was very encouraging to see Amari Cooper back to normal with his seven catches for 115 yards Sunday.

The rookie had only one catch for four yards last week and hadn't topped 100 since Week 7, so it was understandable to be concerned about a slump. However, Cooper seems to be getting back on the right track and now looks capable of an even better showing next week against the defense Watkins just torched.

While the Kansas City Chiefs have played good overall defense in recent weeks, they still have a bit of a weakness for big plays down the field, which Watkins took advantage of this weekend. Cooper can do more of the same and build off his strong performance for more success.

Stock Down

Drew Brees, QB, New Orleans Saints ($6,900)

The New Orleans Saints defense was one of the worst in the league, but at least the team could rely on Drew Brees to put up big numbers. This was until Sunday, when the quarterback finished with just 228 with no touchdowns and an interception.

This was his first game of the season without a score and easily his lowest fantasy output.

To make matters worse, the next game comes against the undefeated Carolina Panthers and a defense allowing just a 68.7 opposing quarterback rating, the lowest in the NFL. With the entire Saints offense struggling, this likely does not equal a good day for Brees.

Matt Forte, RB, Chicago Bears ($6,900)

Although Matt Forte finally returned to action Thursday against the Green Bay Packers, it was a relatively underwhelming performance with just 44 rushing yards on 15 attempts, good for 2.9 yards per carry. Meanwhile, Jeremy Langford remained a big part of the offense with 12 carries for 48 rushing yards and the team's only rushing touchdown.

Nathan Jahnke of Pro Football Focus also provided a final snap count for the duo:

It is unclear if the Chicago Bears were just trying to bring Forte along slowly in his first game back, but Langford has done enough to justify a role on this team. With him likely being the future for the franchise, it would be surprising if he didn't stay heavily involved.

This makes drafting Forte a huge risk, especially for a cost as one of the most expensive running backs of the week.

Demaryius Thomas, WR, Denver Broncos ($7,200)

While Anderson was running up and down the field for the Broncos, Demaryius Thomas was noticeably having one of the worst games of his career. He failed to bring in any of the first 12 targets his way, which led to tweets like this from Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports:

Thomas did finally make a great play when needed, bringing in a jump ball for a 36-yard gain on the final drive of the fourth quarter, but it was otherwise a game to forget for the Pro Bowler.

At the same time, Emmanuel Sanders looked as good as ever with six catches for 113 yards. He seems to have a better rapport with Osweiler and could be the better option if the young player remains under center.

With the Chargers being surprisingly solid against opposing receivers, there are way better options at the position in Week 13.
