NFL Power Rankings: Reviewing Updated Standings, Super Bowl Odds for Week 11

Chris RolingNov 18, 2015

Let Las Vegas tell it, and odds are the New England Patriots and Arizona Cardinals, or maybe even the Carolina Panthers, are still well on the way to playing in the Super Bowl.

Such a showdown would be fun, to say the least, but these things change by the week, especially in a sporting environment where Peyton Manning gets benched and Ronda Rousey takes a dive.

Even Las Vegas cannot predict such shockers, which is what makes power rankings and the title odds from out west so interesting on a week-to-week basis.

Odds and Movement Analysis

Stick a Fork in Them: New Orleans Saints

Drew Brees and Co. look to be in a difficult position going into a bye.

By way of an offense that can still post a gaudy amount of points in a hurry and wins over high-profile teams such as the Atlanta Falcons and New York Giants, the New Orleans Saints continue to hang by a thread in the power rankings.

Super Bowl chances, though? Please.

The situation's so bad for the Saints that they had to find a scapegoat, as evidenced by the team's firing of defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, according to Garland Gillen of Fox 8.

Somebody had to be accountable for the fact the team dropped an overtime decision to the two-win Tennessee Titans before taking a 47-14 beating at the hands of Washington this past weekend ahead of a bye week.

It doesn't matter that Drew Brees has completed 69.5 percent of his passes with 20 touchdowns. The Saints now sit alone in last place in the NFC South, with the Carolina Panthers at 9-0 and the Atlanta Falcons at 6-3.

Still having to face each divisional opponent once and the coaching staff now in a state of flux, the Saints have gone from an interesting value to a must-avoid situation in a hurry.

Keep a Close Eye on Them: Oakland Raiders

Everyone seems down on the Oakland Raiders right now, which is where opportunistic bettors will find great value.

The Raiders have lost two in a row, but this isn't the same organization that would pack it up and go home at 4-5 on a losing streak. Just ask coach Jack Del Rio, according to the team's Twitter account:

No, this is a Raiders team led by Derek Carr under center, who has 21 touchdowns to six interceptions while leaning on breakout rookie Amari Cooper (50 catches, 732 yards and four scores) and rejuvenated veteran Michael Crabtree (51 for 646 and five).

A game defense led by Charles Woodson has forced 19 sacks and nine interceptions and is a large part of the reason the team sits tied for second place in the AFC West.

Outside of divisional matchups, the Raiders get easy games against Detroit and Tennessee the rest of the way. Oakland slipping into the playoffs is a real possibility, as the perfect balance of youth and experience continues to keep the rebuilding Raiders in the hunt.

Don't Panic: Cincinnati Bengals

Andy Dalton and the Cincinnati Bengals have a favorable schedule the rest of the way.

The Cincinnati Bengals took a loss at the hands of the Houston Texans on Monday Night Football, ending the run of one of the league's unbeaten teams and seeming to confirm that what the Bengals had couldn't possibly last.

Still, a 10-6 loss in a clunker of a game isn't something to fret over much. Cincinnati still sits at 8-1 in the AFC North with a win against each team in the division already and three more games to go, meaning another shot at a pair of two-win teams (Cleveland and Baltimore).

The mostly favorable schedule also includes a shot at three-win San Francisco, so at the least, the Bengals still seem like an 11-win team in a weak division.

Which isn't meant to take anything away from the Bengals. Andy Dalton still has 18 touchdowns to five interceptions, a spread-it-out attack has five players at 22 or more catches and the defense looks like past dominant units with 26 sacks and nine interceptions.

Few teams have an answer for the Bengals this year, and when they do, it takes a defensive player like J.J. Watt and a fumble on a potential game-winning drive by A.J. Green to take them down.

Unless the Bengals run into the Texans again, which could still be a 50-50 matchup, there's no reason to panic because the team now has a mark in the loss column. Las Vegas certainly isn't.
