Sunday Night Football Week 10: Cardinals vs. Seahawks TV Schedule, Live Stream

Chris RolingNov 15, 2015

It's do-or-die time for the Seattle Seahawks as the team heads into a Sunday Night Football showdown against the Arizona Cardinals.

Seattle rides a two-game win streak but sits at 4-4 and in second place in the NFC West. The last time Russell Wilson and Co. took to CenturyLink Field, they lost to a contender in the Carolina Panthers, a concerning trend as the team continues to struggle against top competition.

The 6-2 Arizona Cardinals certainly qualify for the description behind the arm of Carson Palmer and the rejuvenated legs of Chris Johnson. Palmer and Co. have also won two in a row going into what is sure to be a gritty, defensive-minded divisional showdown.

Riding the Wave

Palmer and Chris Johnson have the Cardinals riding high.

The Cardinals look borderline unstoppable with Palmer under center.

Put it this way: Dating back to the start of last season, when Palmer suits up, the Cardinals boast a 12-2 record. It helps that the former USC star has Larry Fitzgerald and John Brown to hit on most downs, but regardless, he's completed 64.6 percent of his passes this year with 20 touchdowns to six interceptions.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll hasn't been shy about praising his former collegiate understudy during the buildup to this week's game.

"Carson is playing phenomenal football," Carroll said, according to ESPN.com. "He looks as good as he's ever looked. He's in great command of the offense. I think it's really the best I've ever seen him in all the years he's been out there playing."

In Arizona's two losses this year, Palmer combined for two touchdowns, three interceptions and 773 yards, so the blame doesn't go all on him when the defense struggles and the ground game cannot get going.

Against a defense that stands as one of just two teams surrendering fewer than 200 passing yards per game on average, Palmer might not be able to pull off the road upset on his own. This means getting CJ2K (676 yards, three scores) in space and a defense allowing fewer than 20 points per game on average to play up to its billing.

Rescuing the Season

This is it for the Seahawks, as a loss means another game down in a rough division with a trip to Arizona still on the menu in Week 17.

In a word, the Seahawks have been miserable at home this season. The exception is a 26-0 shutout of the 3-5 Chicago Bears, but otherwise, the team hasn't looked stable in front of a friendly crowd, hardly escaping with a 13-10 win against 1-7 Detroit and then taking a dive to NFC contender Carolina, 27-23.

It sounds bad, but then realize it got even worse this week despite a Week 9 bye—the team added running back Marshawn Lynch to the injury report, and he's questionable at best after not practicing Friday.

Slapping the two major issues into one creates a dangerous concoction, a situation in which the team has to lean on Russell Wilson for hope. It doesn't sound terrible, but consider the fact that he's already suffered a ridiculous 31 sacks while tossing nine touchdowns to six interceptions.

Call it a dire situation for the Seahawks, who might be without their best offensive player against a defense just as potent as their own. It looks like it might be up to Wilson and the defense to turn around iffy home play and pull off the win.

Prediction

This time around, it's not Drew Stanton and Ryan Lindley under center, folks.

The Seahawks swept the Cardinals last year, sure, but with Palmer in the fold and a defense that can match Seattle's blow for blow, it's looking like revenge time for the visitors.

Maybe this outlook would be different if the Seahawks had been strong at home or consistent at all this year. Having Lynch in the lineup would help, too.

Instead, look for the Cardinals to use a short passing and ground attack to burn clock. Both quarterbacks will be prone to mistakes, but the offense that has been unstoppable with Palmer under center can pull off the late score.

While it's easy to say Seattle knows what's at stake and will come out firing, so does Arizona.

Prediction: Cardinals 17, Seahawks 10
