Dwyane Wade Out vs. Jazz with Ill Son in Hospital

Danny WebsterNov 12, 2015

Miami Heat star guard Dwyane Wade will miss Thursday's game against the Utah Jazz to be with his son in the hospital, the Heat announced:

Wade's son will be fine, according to the organization, which is the most important thing and great to hear. Wade is on the inactive list with Gerald Green, who is serving a two-game suspension for "detrimental conduct."

Head coach Erik Spoelstra did not specify which of Wade's two boys, Zaire or Zion, had to be rushed to the hospital, per ESPN.com's Michael Wallace. Wade is expected to release a statement at some point Thursday night.

From a personal standpoint, it's understandable that Wade will miss the game. From a basketball perspective, Chris Bosh will have to carry the load for Miami, and either Justise Winslow or Tyler Johnson will start in Wade's place.

Wade has gotten off to a great start for the Heat this year, averaging 18 points per game and shooting 37.5 percent from three-point range. Thankfully, with this not being a serious issue, Wade should be back for Miami's next game Tuesday against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
