Game of the Week

Seattle Seahawks at San Francisco 49ers

The Seattle Seahawks are 2-4, believe it or not. And if you've watched a fair share of their games so far this season, you would indeed believe it.

Russell Wilson has been dangerous, and the defense has at times been stout, but the Seahawks have still found a way to drop four games. Each has come by blowing fourth-quarter leads, including allowing a game-winning touchdown from Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers at CenturyLink Field this past weekend.

NFL Network showed their disparity between the fourth quarter and the opening 45 minutes:

All of the sudden, the mighty Seahawks are suddenly not so mighty.

Of course, the San Francisco 49ers are another team that is quite familiar with letdowns throughout this year—although this one was expected. New head coach Jim Tomsula and his squad have undergone a four-game losing streak but have wins on the front and tail end of that.

What's more, they historically step it up in Thursday games, as the team's Twitter account noted:

More important than that Thursday success rate is what a victory would do to the NFC West—and the hierarchy of the entire league, really. A win would push San Francisco ahead of Seattle in the division, after seven weeks of play.

Such a result couldn't have been imagined before the season. But it's a mere 60 minutes away from becoming a reality.

Wilson has impressed this season when he's been given the time to operate, and the Niners' defense isn't the beast it has been over the last several years. But Colin Kaepernick is having a decent season of his own and could take it to a Seahawks secondary that is reeling.

Whichever quarterback can get it done will likely lead his team to an all-important division win.
