Zach Hocker Cut by Saints, Kai Forbath Signed: Latest Comments and Reaction
The New Orleans Saints have made a personnel change that merits more attention this season than in years past.
Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports reported New Orleans is releasing kicker Zach Hocker, with the team signing Kai Forbath to replace him, per Fox Sports' Mike Garafolo. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport confirmed the Saints' transactions Monday.
Hocker has made nine out of 13 field-goal attempts and missed only one of 12 extra-point tries after the NFL opted to move the ball back for extra-point attempts. Washington released Forbath just one game into this season after he made one of two field goals.

New Orleans improved to 2-4 with a season-saving win over the previously undefeated Atlanta Falcons in Week 6. In that contest, Hocker missed two out of three field goals, which is likely why the Saints gave him the pink slip.
Chris Russell of 106.7 The Fan in Washington, D.C., weighed in on Forbath's future kicking in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome:
Forbath does bring more NFL experience to the table and has made 60 of 69 field goals for his career, a success rate of 87 percent. That's considerably better than Hocker's current 2015 percentage, albeit with a much smaller sample size.
Saints quarterback Drew Brees seems to have the team's offense going in the right direction after the victory over the Falcons, so New Orleans evidently wants to make sure its kicking game is as strong as possible.
The heightened pressure on extra points has made kicking in the NFL even more scrutinized. It stands to reason Hocker will get another shot elsewhere if another kicker can't find his form.
