Starks Undergoes Surgery

Fox Sports' Jay Glazer reported Starks underwent surgery on Oct. 16 and will miss several weeks. On Oct. 18, head coach Mike McCarthy confirmed that timeline to return, per Michael Cohen of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.
Starks' Absence Hurt Packers' RB Depth
Although Starks has largely played in a reserve role during his seven seasons with the Packers, he has been a key contributor because of his ability to step in and produce when needed.
Starks' playing time has been spotty since he served as the starter as a rookie during the team's playoff push in 2010, especially over the past few seasons with Eddie Lacy in the fold. But the 30-year-old veteran is a nice change of pace and a reliable ball-carrier who makes positive plays more often than not.
With Lacy and Starks on the shelf, the pressure was on Don Jackson and a makeshift backfield to carry the load in the meantime.
The Packers are lacking in terms of running back depth otherwise, but the versatility of Ty Montgomery provided an added dimension. Still, the Packers will be happy to have Starks back to build depth in the backfield.
