Michael Beasley's $25 Million Sexual Assault, Kidnapping Lawsuit Dismissed
Former NBA player Michael Beasley has had a $25 million lawsuit against him thrown out by a judge in Arizona. The lawsuit was filed by a woman who accused him of sexually assaulting and kidnapping her.
According to TMZ Sports, the alleged incident occurred in 2013, and the judge cited state laws as the rationale for not being able to go ahead with the lawsuit:
"The woman decided to go after Beasley in civil court after a police investigation found no evidence of a sexual assault.
But now, the judge has kicked the suit to the curb -- citing Arizona laws which don't allow a person to sue for "sexual assault" or "kidnapping." You can prosecute for said allegations, but not sue.
In the judge's explanation, he explains that the accuser could technically sue for "battery" ... but she would need to amend her suit and file it all over again.

The report also noted the Arizona judge said the kidnapping allegation sounded "more like false imprisonment," of which the statue of limitations has since expired.
In January, TMZ Sports reported the accuser in this case filed a civil lawsuit against Beasley after police investigated the case without being able to find evidence that sexual assault occurred.
Beasley was the No. 2 overall pick by the Miami Heat in 2008, spending seven seasons in the NBA from 2008-15. He has also spent time playing in the Chinese Basketball Association, but he's currently a free agent.
