The Dudley Boyz Will Make The New Day a Stronger WWE Tag Team

Ladies and gentlemen, we’re heading back to Dudleyville!

The Dudley Boyz returned on the Raw after SummerSlam, August 24, to confront The New Day, the current tag team champions. 

This was after New Day members Kofi Kingston and Big E took on The Lucha Dragons. The Prime Time Players, the former tag team champions, were at ringside on commentary. The New Day defeated its opponents and rightfully celebrated its victory. Xavier Woods even brought a trombone to ringside.

Suddenly, the pyro went off. A familiar tune started playing over the speakers. The crowd in Brooklyn knew who was coming and roared in appreciation.

Bubba Ray and D-Von emerged from behind the curtain and went to work. They conquered New Day and put an exclamation point on their return.

The Dudleys set up their patented “table” in the ring and took Woods for a ride. They put Woods through the table with the 3D. Brooklyn wasn’t sleeping after that.

The Dudleys confronted The Prime Time Players, sending them a message clear as day: The Dudley Boyz are back in the tag team title hunt. They might as well have said that to every tag team right now.

However, it seems academic that The New Day will defend its title against the Dudleys soon enough. 

This is a win-win situation.

The Dudley Boyz return to the WWE after last appearing on WWE programming at the inaugural ECW One Night Stand event, which happened on June 12, 2005. A lot has changed in that decade. That includes a fledgling tag team division that started to gain momentum in recent months, culminating in The New Day winning tag team gold a second time at SummerSlam.

After Monday night, the stage is set for the old guard taking on the new, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. The Dudley Boyz will make The New Day a stronger tag team.

The New Day needs new opponents at the moment, having already gone through the tag team division in the past few months.

The faction can rotate its members at any time. While Kingston and Big E are the main players, Woods can easily fill in for either man. It changes opponents’ strategies going in.

The Dudley Boyz aren’t just grizzled veterans, however.

They’ve been tag team champions in nearly every wrestling promotion in their team’s history. They held the WWE tag team titles more than any team in the company’s annals.The Dudleys are proven warriors who helped bring the division to new heights. The Tables, Ladders & Chairs match is a staple thanks in large part to the Dudleys.

How can The Dudley Boyz help The New Day become stronger? It's simple: You cannot teach experience.

The Dudleys have been in every tag team match in the biggest venues throughout the world. The New Day is a young team that hasn’t reached its peak yet.

The Dudleys will test The New Day in every possible way. They hit hard and leave destruction in their wake.

Everyone wins in this scenario. The Dudleys return to get one more run in WWE. The New Day battle the toughest team it will probably ever face.

Frankly, WWE wins because it’s a proven formula. The company has done this before, with great results.

Last year, The Usos were in this spot, as they feuded with the New Age Outlaws. They even traded the tag titles on two occasions. The Outlaws passed the torch to The Usos, who went on to become a huge tag team in WWE.

This brings us to The Dudley Boyz: They can pass the torch to New Day, which is the one thing they haven’t done yet.

The Dudley Boyz will make The New Day a stronger tag team. Their experience and passion will bring the best out of the team. However, The New Day must answer the challenge, because The Dudley Boyz just declared war.
