Oklahoma Suffers Historic Upset Loss to East Texas A&M on 1st Day of CBB Season
Oklahoma basketball's season is off to a disastrous start.
The Sooners had what appeared to be an easy game against East Texas A&M in their season opener on Monday, but despite being 28.5-point favorites coming into the matchup, they dropped the game against the Lions.
It marked East Texas A&M's first-ever win against a power conference opponent and is the second-largest Division-I upset by spread in the last 30 years, according to ESPN.
East Texas A&M has never made the NCAA tournament and is coming off an 11-21 season, but the Lions perhaps could make history and make it to the Big Dance this year. A win over a Power 4 team will surely give them some momentum heading into the season.
Oklahoma, meanwhile, has some soul-searching to do after the historic loss.
The Sooners weren't favorites to compete for a title or win the SEC this year, but they were at least looking to get back into the NCAA tournament after missing last year.
Oklahoma will take on Mississippi Valley State on Friday, where it will look to avoid another historic upset.
