New Saquon Barkley Trade Rumors on Eagles' Decision amid Jonathan Taylor Sweepstakes Before Deadline

Joseph ZuckerNov 1, 2026

The Philadelphia Eagles have no plans to trade running back Saquon Barkley before the Nov. 10 NFL trade deadline, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo and Ian Rapoport.

Garafolo and Rapoport reported Sunday the Eagles "believe they still have plenty of talent on the roster to compete in 2027 and beyond." Because of that, they see a future for Barkley in Philly.

This gives the Indianapolis Colts a little more leverage with trade suitors trying to improve their backfield. Three-time Pro Bowler Jonathan Taylor is by far the best back on the market.

The Eagles are 2-5 and don't have much hope of seeing their playoff odds improve in the coming weeks. If they weren't doomed by then already, losing quarterback Jalen Hurts for the rest of the season gave them an even bigger uphill climb.

Philly traded two-time Pro Bowl lineman Cam Jurgens to the Baltimore Ravens, and many have wondered whether general manager Howie Roseman is prepared to wave the white flag and be a seller at the deadline.

Among the likely candidates, Barkley would've been one of the team's most valuable trade assets. He's only averaging 48.8 yards per game, but his 5.7 yards per carry are nearly equal to his output in 2024, when he ran for 2,005 yards.

The 29-year-old has been dogged by a hamstring injury as well.

Barkley is under contract through 2028, and his performance when healthy hasn't shown signs of falling off. If Roseman is confident in what the roster can achieve next year, then it doesn't make sense to deal the veteran ball-carrier.

That puts the spotlight even more on Indianapolis, which is in the midst of a teardown. It won't be a complete shock if Taylor is still on the Colts through the deadline. Should that happen, it won't be down to a lack of outside interest.
