New Jonathan Taylor Trade Rumors Update Colts' Stance on Dealing RB Ahead of 2026 NFL Deadline

In the wake of trading Quenton Nelson and DeForest Buckner this week, the Indianapolis Colts are opening the door to potentially moving Jonathan Taylor ahead of the Nov. 10 trade deadline.

Per ESPN's Adam Schefter and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, the Colts are "open" to trading their star running back and are in "active and ongoing" discussions with multiple teams that have reached out.

The Ringer's Tom Pelissero reported the Colts "have already been offered a 2027 second-round draft pick plus an additional pick" and "immediately rejected" the offer.

Pelissero reported the Colts would want a "premium haul" in exchange for Taylor.

The Minnesota Vikings, Denver Broncos, Green Bay Packers and New York Giants have been mentioned as potential teams of interest. It's unclear if Josh Jacobs' return would change the Packers' approach.

Cam Skattebo has been up and down in his first season with head coach John Harbaugh, but he's also coming off a career-high 124 rushing yards in the Giants' 27-21 victory over the Houston Texans in Week 7.

Per The Athletic's Jonathan Jones, the Vikings and Giants appear to be favorites for Taylor right now.

As for the cost to acquire Taylor, ESPN's Jordan Raanan has reported the Colts are seeking a second-round draft pick and "possibly more" in exchange for the 27-year-old.

However, Jones noted Minnesota's cap situation would require some maneuvering since the club currently doesn't have enough room available to fit Taylor's remaining cap space.

Addressing his status with the Colts during a media session after Friday's practice, Taylor made it clear he has not requested a trade while acknowledging he doesn't have "full control of his future."

There had been skepticism around the NFL about the Colts possibly trading Taylor after dealing away Nelson and Buckner.

ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported on Wednesday there has been "heavy interest" in Taylor, but opposing clubs "aren't totally sold" he will be moved.

Despite the overall struggles for the Indianapolis offense this season, Taylor remains a bright spot. He is tied for the NFL lead with eight rushing touchdowns and ranks fifth with 587 rushing yards.

The Colts have lost three straight games and are 2-5 overall this season. They haven't made the playoffs since Taylor's rookie year in 2020 and haven't finished over .500 since going 9-8 in 2023.
