Jacob Misiorowski Reveals Pokemon Comparison Ahead of Brewers vs. Rays World Series Game 1
Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Jacob Misiorowski revealed an appropriate Pokémon comparison when the topic arose during his press conference on Thursday, one day before he's set to take the mound for Game 1 of the World Series against the Tampa Bay Rays.
Misiorowski averaged 100.6 mph on his blazing fastball this year, per Baseball Savant, and struck out an MLB-high 252 batters. Therefore a comparison to Charizard (a Fire and Flying Pokémon) works here.
The 6'7" Misiorowski is in his second MLB season. He arrived in the big leagues with tremendous hype and has exceeded it.
This regular season, Misiorowski went 16-5 with some MLB-best marks (1.80 ERA, 0.80 WHIP, 13.0 K/9 rate). He's a lock for the National League Cy Young at this juncture.
Understandably, Misiorowski gets the ball on Friday in Milwaukee, while Nick Martinez starts for Tampa Bay.
Misiorowski will dig in against a tough Tampa Bay team that won 98 games and boasts a talented, deep lineup led by superstar third baseman Junior Caminero and flanked by designated hitter Yandy Díaz and first baseman Jonathan Aranda. Nick Martinez will get the start for Tampa Bay.
Game time is set for 8 p.m. ET. Both franchises are seeking their first-ever World Series title.
