Maryland is celebrating the 25th anniversary season of the 2001-02 men's basketball championship team in style.

The Terrapins unveiled their new championship throwback uniforms that will be used during the 2026-27 season as they honor one of the great teams in the history of the program.

Maryland will wear the uniforms for three games during the upcoming season, including the opener against Bucknell on Nov. 2, against Illinois on Jan. 16 and against Indiana on Feb. 13.

Specific details in the throwback uniform include the arch Maryland across the chest; the Maryland "M" flag and red stripe on the right leg of the shorts; and the black, red and gold trim around the neckline and arms.

The matchup with IU at Xfinity Centerย will include a celebration of the 2002 national championship team.

Indiana was the team Maryland defeated in that title game, 64-52, to win what remains the only championship for the men's basketball program.

The 2001-02 Maryland squad still holds the program's single-season wins record. They finished 32-4 overall and went 15-1 in ACC play to earn a No. 1 seed in the NCAA tournament.

Maryland won each of its six tournament games by at least eight points, with four wins by double-digits. Juan Dixon was named Most Outstanding Player of the tournament after averaging 25.8 points on 54.2 percent shooting.

Dixon, Steve Blake and Lonny Baxter were all part of the 2001-02 team who have subsequently had their jerseys hung from the rafters at Xfinity Center.

Gary Williams, who was Maryland's head coach from 1989 to 2011, was inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame and College Basketball Hall of Fame in 2014.
